New Practice Chart!

Beginning of the school year has been busy and it is about to get busier!  Band lessons start this coming week and I have created a new practice chart for my students to record their at home practicing. I have to admit it is not completely my creation however I did tweak it. I added the catchy phrase at the bottom and changed the column titles.

Well I finished my classroom. I am really pleased how well it came out. I can't believe how much space I have. Here are a few pictures.

 Word wall...I will add words as the year goes on. Each grade has a different list...however sometimes words show up in more than one grade level, depending on what we are studying. 

 

 Behavior reward chart. Each class has a note which I move up after each class depending how well the class behaved. When they get to the top of they staff they get a reward. 

 I chose one student each class who was my "sunshine" for the day. They get to put their name on the giant sun and I sing "You Are My Sunshine" to them. The lyrics are in the middle of the sunshine so the class can sing along. The sunshine for the day gets a little sunshine to take home with them to share with their family. 

I just can't get over how BIG my classroom is...not shown in these pictures is my awesome storage closet. I am sooo fortunate to have such an amazing room. I can't wait to fill it with students. I am looking so forward to sharing my classroom adventures this school year.

So much to learn...

Wow I realized this morning that I have so much to learn about running my blog. I mean I can write posts and read other peoples blogs but it took me forever to figure out how to add a list of blog awards to my site. Thanks Larissa for the award! I will finish the "process" of passing the award on soon. I still have lots of things to figure out. I think I might need to read a blogging for dummies book.

So after seeing some posts on other sites about Erin Condren lesson plan books I decided to take the plunge and order one...it did not come cheap plus I had to up the amount of checklist pages because I have lots of different classes. I did manage to find a 10% off coupon code so that was exciting( I love finding a deal.) For anyone who is interested the code is 2012OFF. It saved me a little bit. I am excited to get it however I am a little worried that it won't work for me because of the number of classes that I have but I think I can make it work. They are soooo cute that I couldn't resist giving it a try. I will post pictures when it arrives. For anyone who is interested here is the link to the site. Love the new look!!

I am so excited that my new design is finished! I think they did an amazing job. For those of you that know me I think you will agree that it is totally me. So if you are new to blogging like me or you just don't want to have to do all the work yourself, I highly suggest hiring Honey Bunch Blog Design. I found them to be quite affordable consindering it would have taken me quite some time to design this myself.



Just finished a fun filled and busy week of VBS...we had a great group of kids it is always fun to connect with kids that I don't see on a regular basis.

So I am still waiting to get into my new classroom...I am in hopes that I will be able to start getting it ready by the middle of next week. So many ideas going through my head but boy do I have my work cut out for me. I think there will be quite a bit of organizing and weeding to do before I even move my things into the room. So needless to say once I can get in there my "vacation" will be over. It is so worth it though. To think that I will actually not have to make going to school an all day affair like I felt I did before. If I want to go for an hour I can do that and not feel like it was a waste.

New to this!!!

I am extremely new to this whole blogging thing, however I am very excited to have my very own blog...I hope those of you that choose to follow me find it worth reading! I am very excited to have Honey Bunch Blog Design working on a beautifully designed blog! I can't wait to see their work.

This year is a new start for me as a teacher. I have accepted a position at a new school that is only about 10 minutes from my house. This is going to be a huge change for me since I had been driving about and hour each way to my previous school where I taught for 11 years. It was a very emotional end to the school year but I know it is for the best. You can't beat gaining almost 2 hours in your day. Maybe a workout won't be such a chore anymore. I certianly won't be able to use the excuse that I don't have time!

I haven't been able to get into my new classroom yet because of summer cleaning and I am so anxious...I have so much to do and I feel like summer is quickly getting away from me. As soon as I can get into my room I will share some before and after pictures of my new space.

So for now I guess I will continue to enjoy my summer because before I know it the school year will be upon me.
